My Christmas Ornament Collection

I finally have a kind of a collection of Christmas ornaments ready to sell on the Christmas poetry event i mentioned in previous posts. Above is a foam plastic ball covered with glittery yarn. Below are my handmade ornament sets. First two are made of carton and the other three are polymer clay.

In addition to Christmas ornaments i will be selling some handmade gifts.

This is the first time i'll be selling my creations, so i am very excited. I am not planning to sell them all, but i hope somebody finds something they like among my lovelies.

Some new and old knitting

I've finally finished knitting Mitya's beanie. It took me about two weeks, because i didn't use any pattern, so i had to take it apart and start all over again couple of times. It has two layers, which is also why it took quite long time.

I also remembered that i've never shown here the scarf i made last winter. It took me ages to make this scarf, so by the time it was ready the winter was over and i didn't really use it until now. It also has two layers, i made it with 5 double pointed needles. I'm happy how it turned out, exactly what i wanted.

We both look so sad on those pics for some reason. I guess Mitya is sad because he's loaded with school work and i'm sad because there's no snow :( (i have loads of school work too, but i'm more sad about the snow)

Another soft case

I bought myself a wireless mouse to use with my laptop. But i couldn't let it float around in my bag unprotected. So i knitted this stripy pouch for my mouse to feel soft and safe.

Little sister's birthday gift

My little sister has birthday today. She is 10 now! She got her first digital camera from parents, so i decided to knit a softcase for her camera.

She's also into knitting, sewing and all kinds of DIY, so in addition to the softcase i gave her a book with 35 sewing projects for kids. I really liked the projects in the book, you can sew dolls and other soft toys as well as pillows, totes and other easy stuff. My sister got really excited about the book, she told she wants to try sewing everything from there.

Varropas / Rainbow Valley split

This release was all about knitting. I got an idea for this kind of packaging when knitting one of my soft cases. I picked up two nice colors of the same yarn that is thick enough for the knitting not to take too much time and started making these tape envelopes. I have made a bit more than half of them by now, they are taking really long time. But i enjoy knitting and i can do it while watching a movie or when i'm in a train or a bus. I does not require much concentration.

White cassettes have been our favorite recently. For the cassette labels i wanted to be minimalist this time, so i've printed the artist names on the left-overs from CD-label paper and cut them out.

For the insert i used color print paper. I've made the inserts looking a bit like a booklet with two pages. So there's a cover page, artist information inside and label information on the back cover. The "booklets" came out so tiny, they look very cute. There are two colors for the inserts as well, purple for blue envelopes and blue for purple ones.

Knitted soft cases

I don't know why i haven't blogged about this before, but i have a little addiction. I knit a custom soft case for almost every little piece of equipment i get.

and even for my phone

I like trying out new patterns on those cases, because they are small and easy to make again if it doesn't go well from the first time. Actually, after having made those cases i got an idea for the next Jozik tape release cover. You'll get to see it soon!

Knitted toys

Several months ago when looking for some book about photography on Amazon, i thought that i could also order some small and cheap books that could teach me some new DIY and crafty things. So among others, i ordered a book by Anna Hrachovec called "Knitting Mochimochi".

I really like knitting, so i thought it would be fun to learn how to knit toys. The reviews on Amazon said the instructions in the book are very clear so i got it. And it was true! I am not a very advanced knitter, all i can knit is scarves, socks and some soft cases for my cameras and music instruments (planning to share those here soon!) And the skills i have seem to be more than enough to make the toys described in this book. I had to learn some new techniques, but the instructions were really clear, so it was easy.

Couple of weeks ago i started with the book by just trying the basic techniques described in there. I thought i just make something that had legs and ears, so i can learn how to make those. But once i added eyes and mouth to it, it suddenly started to look so cute!

During the weekend i was slightly sick so i stayed in bed most of the time and i decided to finally try one of the actual toy patterns from the book. So i made a pair of pocket protectors.

They are now protecting a side pocket of our backpack:

I can't wait to try other patterns as well try making up a toy myself. I also want to try making very tiny ones.
