<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5gnrHtHZagU/UUh4qD2Uj_I/AAAAAAAAAs4/wyfHwS8b0m4/s1600/paperplane_blog_banner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5gnrHtHZagU/UUh4qD2Uj_I/AAAAAAAAAs4/wyfHwS8b0m4/s1600/paperplane_blog_banner.jpg" width="100%" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's been ages since I've done my last post! The reason is, I've been rethinking, redesigning, replanning everything concerning my crafty activities. And I am really happy with the results so far.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am still working on everything, but here is where I am now:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My Etsy shop has changed a lot, I've stopped selling knitted and crocheted items and started concentrating on paper goods. I've been really happy with my products and my shop ever since! Feels like this is what I've always wanted to do!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a facebook fan page for my shop: <a href="http://facebook.com/paperplanestationery">facebook.com/paperplanestationery</a>, it's pretty new, so not many followers. I'd appreciate if you go and like it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And the main thing: this blog is closing! This is my last post in this blog. I'll keep it hanging around for now, but I might delete it completely later on. But do not worry, I have a brand new blog I've finally launched a couple of days ago: <a href="http://paperplanestationery.blogspot.fi/">paperplanestationery.blogspot.fi</a>. The reason is the same as for changing my shop: I didn't feel this blog is reflecting what I want to do nowadays. I started it when I had no experience in neither crafts nor selling and showcasing my work online. So I wanted to start fresh. Hope this one will go better. I plan on making some tutorials and freebies for you, I really want to have more interaction with my followers and show you some appreciation for following me!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really hope to see you all in my new blog!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Bye bye, old blog!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
I mentioned in one of my previous posts that I rearranged my craft room (actually it's more like a craft corner). So I just wanted to show you an instagram shot of what it looks like now. It's a bit more messy most of the time. But i'm in love with this long table, mini drawer and an extra shelf. The space I had before was probably ten times smaller. I have no idea how I managed to work with that.</div>

<br />
I've been making loads of tiny hand-bound notebooks lately. I love the process and I love the way they look and feel. There are several notebooks available for sale in <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/SashaKretova">my Etsy shop</a> now.<br />
<br />
These two are the ones I'm especially happy with. Basically I used the same idea I had for the Banana Pill <a href="http://sashakretova.blogspot.fi/2011/09/banana-pill-t-shirt.html">t-shirts</a> and <a href="http://sashakretova.blogspot.fi/2011/10/banana-pill-tote-bags.html">tote bags</a> a year ago. I collected oak and maple leaves outside my house, painted them with watercolor and transferred the paint straight to the carton covers. The paint didn't transfer as well as it did on fabric, so I had to add some color with a brush.<br />
<br />
I'm totally in love with these leaves! I wanna try with other kinds. The only problem is that I don't know the names for all the trees.<br />

<br />
I've been away for way too long...<br />
<br />
First I've been busy with work. Then summer came, which is for me the hardest time to stay organized. Then my work ended and I had all this free time on my hands so I spent it rearranging my craft room and updating <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/SashaKretova">my Etsy shop</a> with new design, new photos and new items. I still have some more items waiting to be added as well as some new ideas in my head. I'm so happy to finally have time for this and I hope to get back to regular blogging as well.<br />

I've made this laptop cozy quite a while ago. It was my first granny square project ever. I've spent lots of time trying to find good buttons for it, that's why it was complete only recently. It doesn't fit my laptop, so i don't yet know what to do with it. Will probably put it on my Etsy shop, but should first measure it properly.<br />
<div style="text-align: left;"><br />

I had some yarn left so i made these little pouches. I've no idea what you can store in them but i find them quite cute.<br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">Once i've learnt how to hand-stitch proper notebooks, i started using my skill on a very nice collaboration project. We made a book with a poet called Platon Lliv (i've made another <a href="http://sashakretova.blogspot.com/2011/12/poetry-books.html">book</a> with his poems in December) and an artist called <a href="http://maiorov-diy.blogspot.com/">Maiorov</a>, who participated in some cover designs for <a href="http://jozikrecords.blogspot.com/">Jozik records</a>. We all were really happy with how this project turned out. The watercolor paintings went perfectly well with poems and i found a really nice carton for the cover, which added to the atmosphere of the book.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

The dark winter days have not been very inspiring for photographing, plus there haven't been much crafting going on here because i got a day job. But now i've reorganized my schedule and the sun started coming out, so i have many new things to show you.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZZiWw9Veg7w/Tz1YYCja_zI/AAAAAAAAAg4/ZXrkUg1RXl8/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZZiWw9Veg7w/Tz1YYCja_zI/AAAAAAAAAg4/ZXrkUg1RXl8/s320/1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I have finally learnt to hand-stitch notebooks! And i fell in love with it. I have been checking loads of tutorials for the past half a year or so. Finally i figured out the most clear way for me to do it and here is my first notebook.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: center;"> I was expecting the first notebook to come out quite lousy. Surprisingly it came out very nice. I used office paper of two different colors and i kept changing the color for each signature.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3gWYd5as4U8/Tz1YagSFbxI/AAAAAAAAAhE/fBxoQLHO8Ik/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="303" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3gWYd5as4U8/Tz1YagSFbxI/AAAAAAAAAhE/fBxoQLHO8Ik/s320/3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">On the picture below you can see how the stitches look on the spine. I like the way the spine looks so much, that i've decided to use the cover only for front and back. This is also much easier than making the whole cover. This notebook now belongs to my friend Ksenia.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

My adaptation period after the holidays always takes time. But i had a lovely holiday and now i'm back with new projects and ideas. I will have new things to show soon, some ongoing collaborations and new additions to my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/SashaKretova">Etsy shop</a>. For now i'll just share my treasuries on Etsy which i've tried making for the first time.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>The Beauty of Natural Colors</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MTYxNDgwNzF8MTg2NDY5MjE3NQ/the-beauty-of-natural-colors"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PX0rqImPh6s/TxmONcqVU1I/AAAAAAAAAgk/z0Disu2M_Y8/s400/Screen+shot+2012-01-20+at+5.53.19+PM.png" width="390" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Lovely Pastels</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MTYxNDgwNzF8MTg2NzgzMzg5OA/lovely-pastels"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PmnXFJzZgjY/TxmOOC_y8pI/AAAAAAAAAgs/W3kR4DVzrmY/s400/Screen+shot+2012-01-20+at+5.53.46+PM.png" width="387" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>There can never be too much white</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MTYxNDgwNzF8MTg2NTA3NzIzNw/there-can-never-be-too-much-white"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UGTts67tSEw/TxmOMUnppeI/AAAAAAAAAgc/UmoxYqX_s6U/s400/Screen+shot+2012-01-20+at+5.52.54+PM.png" width="387" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I've wanted to try making treasuries long time ago and i've even tried starting couple of times but it always seemed too hard. Yesterday i somehow got so inspired that i just started making several of them at the same time. I had lots of fun! I found lots of nice new shops and i really enjoyed matching the listings. It was not too easy, but i think it's a good exercise for developing taste for color and style.</div></div>Sasha Kretovahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15085898167659829043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989525354068510822.post-51700956312463795812011-12-21T12:54:00.000+02:002011-12-21T12:54:21.687+02:00My Etsy Shop<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://sashakretova.etsy.com/"><img border="0" height="321" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VGhAqpR8Cu4/TvG4gWpioLI/AAAAAAAAAgA/dLRkFw-H9k8/s400/Screen+shot+2011-12-21+at+12.35.36+PM.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I've opened my own <a href="http://sashakretova.etsy.com/">Etsy shop</a>!<br />
<br />
There are not that many items yet, more of them are coming next year. It's mostly my little knitted and crochet designs for now. Later i'm planning to have some hand-made notebooks, fabric pins and buttons and other craft supplies, as well as some little sewn decorations for your home. And of course more knitting and crochet! Let's see where this takes me.<br />
<br />
I am totally up for custom orders. If you like something but want a different color or size, contact me and i'll see what are the possibilities.</div>Sasha Kretovahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15085898167659829043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989525354068510822.post-32673494387214795022011-12-21T12:25:00.000+02:002011-12-21T12:25:15.149+02:00Crochet Garlands<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6HCOwTtgLuA/TvGyk6FOs0I/AAAAAAAAAfw/O5Iblvd7rVg/s1600/IMG_5130.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6HCOwTtgLuA/TvGyk6FOs0I/AAAAAAAAAfw/O5Iblvd7rVg/s320/IMG_5130.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I fell in love with this 50% cotton 50% soy supersoft yarn. All the colors they have are amazing. I've made two crochet garlands with it. Fot the first one i used <a href="http://sunshineandcarousels.blogspot.com/2011/12/making-christmas-snowflake-garland-with.html">this tutorial</a>. The second one is a triangle version of good old granny square.<br />

Yesterday was a really busy day. We have released a new batch of tapes on Jozik records. The day of release is always really busy and i have to spend all day in front of the computer processing images, writing blogposts and newsletters, creating PayPal buttons and so on. Lots of work. But we finally have the tapes out and we are happy :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7AhYZSWet6U/Tu9HpZQ_DHI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/sGU93IaFLzg/s1600/IMG_5111.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7AhYZSWet6U/Tu9HpZQ_DHI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/sGU93IaFLzg/s320/IMG_5111.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div>This time i designed the artwork for only one of the tapes. The other two were designed by our good artist friends <a href="http://maiorov-diy.blogspot.com/">Maiorov</a> and <a href="http://anya.tihiiomut.ru/">Anya Kuts</a>. <a href="http://maiorov-diy.blogspot.com/">Maiorov</a> made hand made carton boxes with a beautiful drawing of his and <a href="http://anya.tihiiomut.ru/">Anya</a> designed a lovely insert (the green one) to stick inside our new poly boxes.<br />
<div><br />
</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Mg98fyEuNFI/Tu9HyOcROUI/AAAAAAAAAfo/tPltf_9qZXI/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Mg98fyEuNFI/Tu9HyOcROUI/AAAAAAAAAfo/tPltf_9qZXI/s320/1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<br class="Apple-interchange-newline" />I decided not to do too much hand made stuff this time, so i also designed an insert to fit into poly box for a great tape by Brian Green. I based the whole thing on a drawing inspired by my new book of Indian ornaments.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vDOmhlvj19g/Tu9HpyBoCOI/AAAAAAAAAfY/aD9kB7iuVsU/s1600/IMG_5112.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vDOmhlvj19g/Tu9HpyBoCOI/AAAAAAAAAfY/aD9kB7iuVsU/s320/IMG_5112.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0YJvyHDvbgc/Tu9Hq7Q6xFI/AAAAAAAAAfc/HBg82-smF5k/s1600/IMG_5113.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0YJvyHDvbgc/Tu9Hq7Q6xFI/AAAAAAAAAfc/HBg82-smF5k/s320/IMG_5113.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

I finally have a kind of a collection of Christmas ornaments ready to sell on the Christmas poetry event i mentioned in previous posts. Above is a foam plastic ball covered with glittery yarn. Below are my handmade ornament sets. First two are made of carton and the other three are polymer clay.<br />

I took part in a fun project this year together with two poets. We made books with their poems to sell/give away on a Christmas poetry event i mentioned in previous posts. The poets took care of all content and i've put together the books and made the covers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-u8paKWgbVU8/TucsaqFmg9I/AAAAAAAAAdM/aBTHF5vCM1o/s1600/IMG_5091.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-u8paKWgbVU8/TucsaqFmg9I/AAAAAAAAAdM/aBTHF5vCM1o/s320/IMG_5091.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The first book is by <a href="http://platon-life.livejournal.com/">Platon Lliv</a>. He wrote 10 of his poems by hand and added some cut outs from old books/magazines as illustrations. I've made 10 books with a minimalistic cover and scans of his writings inside.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8IWdt93SsjY/TucsbZqDRII/AAAAAAAAAdU/wFKnx8lw6II/s1600/IMG_5094.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8IWdt93SsjY/TucsbZqDRII/AAAAAAAAAdU/wFKnx8lw6II/s320/IMG_5094.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The second book has poems by <a href="http://jahontova.livejournal.com/">Tatiana Pertseva</a>. She had combined her poems with loads of collages made of magazine and advertisement cut outs, own photographs, old tickets and lots of other found treasures. I've made 5 books with scans of her works. Each book has a slightly different cover made with two types of carton. The names and titles on the covers of both books were hand stamped using my alphabet stamps, letter by letter.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-B8aMBv4UsEY/TucscG4G7SI/AAAAAAAAAdY/qJWnQwpqL88/s1600/IMG_5095.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-B8aMBv4UsEY/TucscG4G7SI/AAAAAAAAAdY/qJWnQwpqL88/s320/IMG_5095.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Last weekend i've started decorating our apartment with Christmas stuff.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iMR_vtZPKg0/Ttyge5ROhJI/AAAAAAAAAcc/d7AyPMQWV6Q/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iMR_vtZPKg0/Ttyge5ROhJI/AAAAAAAAAcc/d7AyPMQWV6Q/s320/2.jpg" width="212" /></a></div><br />
I bought this white Christmas tree a couple of years ago. I thought we might not have snow for Christmas so i wanted lots of white inside our apartment. There was plenty of snow last two winters, but this time it seems that we might not have any.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k7U4-_PsnGI/TtygeMXmA4I/AAAAAAAAAcU/ET2OMKIEdEw/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k7U4-_PsnGI/TtygeMXmA4I/AAAAAAAAAcU/ET2OMKIEdEw/s320/1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I got these lights and the little candle house last week. I just got this idea that i want to have lights inside something, and once i saw this glass house i realized that it's perfect for my white theme.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3tjVqXUYUbw/Ttygf6PATnI/AAAAAAAAAcg/Ug-X7VNxQlo/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3tjVqXUYUbw/Ttygf6PATnI/AAAAAAAAAcg/Ug-X7VNxQlo/s320/3.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />
This year we have a real advent calendar with little gifts. We had only chocolate ones before.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-elmwUezmTPU/TtyggUTBaBI/AAAAAAAAAco/luuUSJho4kw/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-elmwUezmTPU/TtyggUTBaBI/AAAAAAAAAco/luuUSJho4kw/s320/4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This year i wanted to add some red to my Christmas decorations, so i got this "Christmas star" flower.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s8Q4QoSKaeg/TtyghamKpEI/AAAAAAAAAc0/xyzjgYH0Zk4/s1600/5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s8Q4QoSKaeg/TtyghamKpEI/AAAAAAAAAc0/xyzjgYH0Zk4/s320/5.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />
The white fake "Christmas star" flowers and glittery decorations are from last years.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WSZU21bJqAA/TtygiPP2kLI/AAAAAAAAAc4/sOBBfE9Inf0/s1600/6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WSZU21bJqAA/TtygiPP2kLI/AAAAAAAAAc4/sOBBfE9Inf0/s320/6.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />
We always have some extra ornaments, because our tree is so small. This time i wanted to display them somehow, so i put them in a big jar with some tinsel on the bottom.</div>Sasha Kretovahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15085898167659829043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989525354068510822.post-41390599727707982392011-11-26T19:10:00.000+02:002011-11-26T19:10:22.737+02:00More Christmas Decorations<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://distilleryimage4.instagram.com/a31946cc184e11e1abb01231381b65e3_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://distilleryimage4.instagram.com/a31946cc184e11e1abb01231381b65e3_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I bought some modeling clay and made more X-mas decorations. I used cookie-cutters for the shapes, acrylic paints and lots of glitter for decorating. Instagram pics again, sorry for that. I get so tired after making these that i don't feel like getting the camera out and going trough the whole process of taking and processing pictures. But i will definitely have a list of everything i have for sale for the Christmas poetry event with proper pictures once everything is ready.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://distilleryimage7.instagram.com/5f6a7e10184d11e1a87612313804ec91_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://distilleryimage7.instagram.com/5f6a7e10184d11e1a87612313804ec91_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://distilleryimage9.instagram.com/b4d5a78a184d11e19e4a12313813ffc0_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://distilleryimage9.instagram.com/b4d5a78a184d11e19e4a12313813ffc0_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://distilleryimage9.instagram.com/ebdb9604184d11e1a87612313804ec91_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://distilleryimage9.instagram.com/ebdb9604184d11e1a87612313804ec91_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div></div>Sasha Kretovahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15085898167659829043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989525354068510822.post-58398771216017403312011-11-24T16:02:00.000+02:002011-11-24T16:02:51.110+02:00Lots of little crafts and Christmas decorations<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://distilleryimage1.instagram.com/2474226a168c11e1abb01231381b65e3_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://distilleryimage1.instagram.com/2474226a168c11e1abb01231381b65e3_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I've been making lots of small stuff recently, because I got a chance to actually show and sell some of my works. There's an annual Christmas poetry event we take part in (last year we did an <a href="http://sashakretova.blogspot.com/2010/12/installation-for-poetry-evening.html">installation</a> and i always get to decorate the place). So this year i will also sell some of my handmade items there. I'm trying to prepare as much things as i can, so i've been busy with that a lot nowadays. I didn't bother taking proper pictures, because not everything is ready yet, but here are Instagram photos of some things i've made recently.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I've finally finished knitting Mitya's beanie. It took me about two weeks, because i didn't use any pattern, so i had to take it apart and start all over again couple of times. It has two layers, which is also why it took quite long time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aFLruZ6_LoQ/TsvGCXXf-eI/AAAAAAAAAb0/8YHNZbnIugU/s1600/IMG_4980.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aFLruZ6_LoQ/TsvGCXXf-eI/AAAAAAAAAb0/8YHNZbnIugU/s320/IMG_4980.JPG" width="284" /></a></div><br />
I also remembered that i've never shown here the scarf i made last winter. It took me ages to make this scarf, so by the time it was ready the winter was over and i didn't really use it until now. It also has two layers, i made it with 5 double pointed needles. I'm happy how it turned out, exactly what i wanted.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3ODXI9sQjus/TsvGGXdM-OI/AAAAAAAAAb8/am8nqjX9sq4/s1600/IMG_4985.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3ODXI9sQjus/TsvGGXdM-OI/AAAAAAAAAb8/am8nqjX9sq4/s320/IMG_4985.JPG" width="213" /></a></div><br />
We both look so sad on those pics for some reason. I guess Mitya is sad because he's loaded with school work and i'm sad because there's no snow :( (i have loads of school work too, but i'm more sad about the snow)<br />
<br />

I got the photos from our Russia tour developed and scanned. I had a break from shooting film, but i got back to it on this tour and i'm happy i did, cause the photos came out looking exactly like the warm memories i had of this tour. Above is the entrance to the place we played at in Petrozavodsk.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sasha_kretova/6349348651/" title="2 by sasha--sasha, on Flickr"><img alt="2" height="270" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6226/6349348651_178b29416a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
And this is what it looked like inside. It was a part of an old tractor factory, really nice place but really hard to warm up, so we were all freezing there.<br />
<br />

It's been almost two weeks since i'm back home from the tour but i'm only starting to get back to normal life. When you are on the road non-stop even for a short amount of time, it takes time to get used to normal life again where you don't need to move all the time and you don't meet new people every day. I got the pics from the tour developed yesterday, i'll share them soon once i get time to scan them.<br />
<br />
We've spent quite a lot of time in trains so i had plenty of time to try out some crochet patterns from my new books:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://blog.craftzine.com/lacycrochetbook.jpg" width="183" /><img border="0" height="200" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61-zz3Bk-bL._SL500_AA300_.jpg" width="200" /></div><br />
Unfortunately, i don't have any photos of the doily i've made using the pattern from the "Pineapple doilies" book, because i gave the doily to my mom. It was the doily from the cover. The instructions in this book were really clear and the doily turned out really pretty.<br />
<br />
From the "Lacy Crochet" book i especially enjoyed making round coasters. First i've made them exactly following the instructions.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-suZdpKbl9Ng/Tr6bkQal56I/AAAAAAAAAa8/dcmpf-dW1RM/s1600/IMG_4883.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-suZdpKbl9Ng/Tr6bkQal56I/AAAAAAAAAa8/dcmpf-dW1RM/s320/IMG_4883.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
When i've used all the colors that i had with me and got a bit bored of the same pattern, i've tried a different edging.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k0YQNigLxwE/Tr6blvG-v7I/AAAAAAAAAbE/qYqvrSd6Uvg/s1600/IMG_4885.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k0YQNigLxwE/Tr6blvG-v7I/AAAAAAAAAbE/qYqvrSd6Uvg/s320/IMG_4885.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I've also tried a large square doily from the same book. I did my own edging and more rows than the pattern suggested.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uu6o80_JlZ4/Tr6bmNY_fzI/AAAAAAAAAbM/uzXT79B3YKw/s1600/IMG_4888.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uu6o80_JlZ4/Tr6bmNY_fzI/AAAAAAAAAbM/uzXT79B3YKw/s320/IMG_4888.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This large round doily was actually the first one i've made from the book before we left on tour.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gqR6LzuiIQw/Tr6bnM9ZccI/AAAAAAAAAbU/ZZUxT_dqyWw/s1600/IMG_4892.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gqR6LzuiIQw/Tr6bnM9ZccI/AAAAAAAAAbU/ZZUxT_dqyWw/s320/IMG_4892.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I am really happy that i got this book (the full title is "Kyuuto! Japanese Crafts! Lacy Crochet"). I really like the way it's designed, all the examples on the photographs are made with really pretty pastel yarn, really similar colors with the ones i have and i really like them. There are both templates and text instructions with photos for each project. There are also instructions for basic stitches, so the book could be good for beginners as well. It was my first time working with crochet templates, and i really liked it, because i often get lost in text patterns when there are lots of rows involved. There are instructions with photos for each sign in the templates, so i've learnt to use them quite fast.<br />

This week is the last week before we go on tour and it has been a bit crazy as usually. I stayed up really late making covers and t-shirts. Today i can finally slow down a bit. I still have some things to do, but at least the biggest things are ready and i don't have to go to school today.<br />
<br />
Two big things basically were t-shirts and a new Banana Pill live CD-R we've made especially for the tour. Now that the t-shirts are drying after a successful wash (the images have not disappeared!) and the CD's are packed i can finally show you the result of my work.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Hjw-AWOXCWE/TpbYiEZ3hPI/AAAAAAAAAYU/7q0NmXRbzWk/s1600/IMG_4687.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Hjw-AWOXCWE/TpbYiEZ3hPI/AAAAAAAAAYU/7q0NmXRbzWk/s320/IMG_4687.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The idea of this CD-R was that we make it fast and cheap, so that anyone could buy it and we could give it as a gift to someone if we want to. We included only live tracks there, so that people who hear us and like it can buy it and listen to something similar to what they've heard.<br />
<br />
So i went with this very simple design. I've ripped apart one simple white CD sleeve, traced it over this nice carton, cut it out and glued together. Then i've stamped the text on the front of each sleeve with my <a href="http://sashakretova.blogspot.com/2011/08/stamps.html">alphabet stamps</a>. Stamping letter by letter doesn't give you perfectly straight text, but i like it because this way each sleeve is unique.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9bksyNxY_Ug/TpbYjofS3SI/AAAAAAAAAYk/g6eLod5wfHE/s1600/IMG_4695.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9bksyNxY_Ug/TpbYjofS3SI/AAAAAAAAAYk/g6eLod5wfHE/s320/IMG_4695.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I've stamped the CD-R's the same way. I just needed to remove extra ink with a tissue, otherwise it wouldn't dry so well. I used inkjet-printable CD-R's.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VW4T223pv9A/TpbYkad3UaI/AAAAAAAAAYs/gwZuB5f4YR0/s1600/IMG_4697.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VW4T223pv9A/TpbYkad3UaI/AAAAAAAAAYs/gwZuB5f4YR0/s320/IMG_4697.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Even though i didn't expect this CD-R to look any special, i am really happy with a result. Very minimalist and stylish. Cheap and easy, but it sure takes some time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cpi7oapbDtI/TpbYk1U8JdI/AAAAAAAAAY0/YBun72w8wMM/s1600/IMG_4698.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cpi7oapbDtI/TpbYk1U8JdI/AAAAAAAAAY0/YBun72w8wMM/s320/IMG_4698.JPG" width="320" /></a></div></div>Sasha Kretovahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15085898167659829043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989525354068510822.post-1869117757745041592011-10-06T13:22:00.000+03:002011-10-06T13:22:49.211+03:00Banana Pill tote bags<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sqzwzqfiGCA/To1_DrcgrAI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/s5VuNalGpVs/s1600/IMG_4629.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sqzwzqfiGCA/To1_DrcgrAI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/s5VuNalGpVs/s320/IMG_4629.JPG" width="216" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">While waiting for the blank t-shirts to arrive, i've decided to also make some tote bags for the tour. They are cheaper and i don't need to order them. I just got them from the local craft shop Tiimari.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2RicB5ypUqo/To1-lAiC0tI/AAAAAAAAAYE/7KD0_zMsVPg/s1600/IMG_4617.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2RicB5ypUqo/To1-lAiC0tI/AAAAAAAAAYE/7KD0_zMsVPg/s320/IMG_4617.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
First i thought of getting the bags from a regular food store and i was worried they would be too white and boring. But i found these and i really like them, because they have more "dirty" natural white color.<br />
<br />
I used different types of leaves, so each bag is unique. Will do the same for the t-shirt. Hopefully all the leaves won't fall off by the time the t-shirts arrive.<br />
<br />

</div>We go on tour with Banana Pill very soon. We'll tour Russia! And we've decided to make t-shirts to sell on the tour. As usually, i've started acting at the last moment. A couple of weeks before the tour i've made my test t-shirt. I went with a simple design, because it's my first time, and i used the same idea i had with leaves and watercolor, only this time with textile paint. So it is really autumn inspired. Here are some pictures of my process:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RIgQu9I3eF4/ToNfi0ZcwYI/AAAAAAAAAXk/uRJGWDiTxjs/s1600/IMG_4587.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RIgQu9I3eF4/ToNfi0ZcwYI/AAAAAAAAAXk/uRJGWDiTxjs/s320/IMG_4587.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
First of all i've collected some nice leaves on my way home from school. Then i've spent ages looking for a good font in Photoshop. When it was ready i printed it out on a sticker paper and cut the letters out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gw_8knhmZ-k/ToNfn4r6HxI/AAAAAAAAAXo/LlQZQfYHQkU/s1600/IMG_4589.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gw_8knhmZ-k/ToNfn4r6HxI/AAAAAAAAAXo/LlQZQfYHQkU/s320/IMG_4589.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then i attached the paper to the t-shirt and painted over the letters.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-10GADobPIYs/ToNudo2oNFI/AAAAAAAAAYA/QdzcjZom34U/s1600/IMG_4591.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-10GADobPIYs/ToNudo2oNFI/AAAAAAAAAYA/QdzcjZom34U/s320/IMG_4591.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I waited for a little while for the paint to dry and took the sticker paper off. Then i got one leaf, painted it over with another color and stamped it on a t-shirt. I waited again for about an hour and ironed the image through another piece of fabric.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zukYy0XwmXQ/ToNt5IzBSaI/AAAAAAAAAX8/gu5saCDIkds/s1600/IMG_4592.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zukYy0XwmXQ/ToNt5IzBSaI/AAAAAAAAAX8/gu5saCDIkds/s320/IMG_4592.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I was quite happy with the result, so i ordered some new blank t-shirts online (this one was Mitya's old t-shirt). I hope the postage won't take too long and i will have time to finish them all before the tour.<br />
<br />
For this project i got lot's of help from a tutorial on <a href="http://maiorov-diy.blogspot.com/2010/04/blog-post_15.html">Maiorov DIY</a> blog. He is really good at it! Without his tips i would have messed up several t-shirts before getting it right.</div>Sasha Kretovahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15085898167659829043noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989525354068510822.post-34325772461603895702011-09-26T19:53:00.000+03:002011-09-26T19:53:56.498+03:00New notebooks<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UFu1xwUKfBg/ToCk62KCTZI/AAAAAAAAAW8/bJz3CNgoIuY/s1600/IMG_4565.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UFu1xwUKfBg/ToCk62KCTZI/AAAAAAAAAW8/bJz3CNgoIuY/s320/IMG_4565.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I've been working on these notebooks for the whole week. They don't take so much time to make, but for some reason i kept doing them little by little. They are not made with recycled paper, but with new paper this time. I really wanted to try making them with this yellowish paper. And i've also finally tried my new rubber stamps on notebooks!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The shopping list notebook was made from the scraps left from the first three. It also took quite a long time to finish this one, because the words on the bottom were stamped letter by letter using my alphabet stamps. So the letters are not at all perfectly aligned, but i like it this way. It also has magnets on the back for hanging it on the fridge.</div></div>Sasha Kretovahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15085898167659829043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989525354068510822.post-70050900283125796432011-09-16T11:15:00.000+03:002011-09-16T11:15:08.669+03:00Leaves and Watercolor<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q3QrkY1HcDE/TnMEAfTjJlI/AAAAAAAAAWU/uzUSi_fb5jw/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="190" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q3QrkY1HcDE/TnMEAfTjJlI/AAAAAAAAAWU/uzUSi_fb5jw/s320/3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I had way too many knitting and crocheting projects on my blog recently (and more of them are coming up), so now its time for something different.<br />
<br />
The autumn is here and the leaves are falling down. I wanted to save some of them along with the happiness of summer. So i collected different leaves, covered them with watercolor paints and stamped the images on paper.<br />
<br />
I haven't figured out any use for those images yet, but i really like how they came out.<br />
